Measure current storage before cancelling
Your paid Google One storage does not automatically normally disappear immediately; the key change is what happens when the paid period ends and your account returns to its included storage allowance.
Compare current usage with the lower allowance
After the cancelling cloud storage, open recent and archived files. After cloud-storage cancellation, compare the new quota with actual usage and note any account that is immediately over the resulting limit.
Make an independent copy of irreplaceable files
At the plan end, your account returns to the storage included with your Google Account. If your usage is above the available quota, Gmail, Drive and Photos may face storage restrictions. Use cloud-storage cancellation as a backup checkpoint: copy the hardest-to-replace data elsewhere and verify that the copy opens correctly.
Check family or team members using shared storage
Shared quota can make cloud-storage cancellation affect more than one person; record the users and data sets that depend on the current plan.
Record the plan-end date and billing channel
Tie cloud-storage cancellation to its billing timeline: note the seller, effective date and receipt before the storage allowance changes.
Test uploads, sync and recovery after the change
Shared files and existing data may still be visible, but collaboration can be constrained when the owner is over quota. After cloud-storage cancellation, test a new upload, sync or email action that depends on available storage and compare the result with the new quota.
